May 2022- England Day 6- Windsor, Stonehenge and Oxford

Our last day in England was a big day.  We bought a charter bus tour that took us to Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and Oxford all in one big swoop!  We got up early and headed out to Windsor.  At some point on this journey we passed the Royal Ascot track, which was very exciting to me!

Windsor is just lovely- I would love to go spend more time there sometime.  I love the shops and the atmosphere.  The castle is amazing- it's the oldest castle in the world still used as a home.  When the British Royal family decided to drop their German surname, the chose Windsor after this castle.

You can't see it, but Her Majesty's Royal Standard was flying over the turret- so she was HOME! :)

We also saw St. George's Chapel, which is lovely.  It is where Princess Eugenie as well as Prince Harry got married.  I watched both those weddings and was so excited to see the spot in person!

As ever, they don't let you take pictures indoors.  I just took two to remember we were there.  We saw a lot of in the interior.

This is where Prince Harry and Meagan Markle's wedding reception was-

Back to the bus and we were off to the beautiful drive to Stonehenge.  Stonehenge ended up being absolutely PACKED and our tour guide did some razzle dazzle to get us to the stones and back in town and miss the big lines.

Last stop was beautiful Oxford, the intellectual town.  We were excited to see students were still in college and saw several with the red flower on their black robes.

Tourists! :)  We wore those headsets so our tour guide could tell us what we were seeing as we traveled.  It's so helpful.

We got back to London around 6:30 and found the perfect place to have our last dinner at the Duke of York.

The next morning we got up early and had a good breakfast before heading to the airport to get covid tested.  While you didn't need any tests to get into England, you did have to pass a test to get back in the USA.  So we got to the airport 4 hours earlier than our flight and waited in line and all got and passed our covid tests.  Then we had super long security lines, but they moved along.

What can I say but thank you Lord for this trip.  It was just amazing start to finish.  We will always hold these memories dear.
